Caroline M. Schwalbe age 88, a Manitowoc resident, died Friday August 3, 2012 at St. Mary's at Felician Village in Manitowoc.
Caroline was born on December 11, 1923 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Arnold and Olga (Stephani) Gaestel. She grew up in Manitowoc and attended local schools. On September 16, 1944 Caroline was married to Earl Schwalbe at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. Earl preceded her in death on June 16, 2000. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Altar Guild and church choir.
Survivors include her three sons and daughters-in-law: Ronald (Kaye) Schwalbe, Manitowoc; Rev. Bruce (Ruth Ann) Schwalbe, India; Steven (Cynthia) Schwalbe, Green Bay; nine grandchildren: Douglas (Jodi) Schwalbe, Manitowoc; Chad Schwalbe, Manitowoc; Andrew (Sarah) Schwalbe, Green Bay; Rachel (John) Delano, Ohio; Rev. Daniel (Hannah) Schwalbe, India; Rebecca (Nathan) Beverly, Ohio; Elizabeth Schwalbe, Janesville; Joshua Schwalbe, Green Bay; Eric Schwalbe, Chicago, IL; eight great grandchildren: Elijah, Erika, Mollie, Aidan, Angela, David, Daniel and Katie; three brothers: George Gaestel, Manitowoc; Arnold Gaestel, Green Bay; Melvin Gaestel, Lakewood; one sister: Sylvia Eberhardt, Lake Placid, FL; one sister-in-law: Loretta Schwalbe, Kiel; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Arnold and Olga Gaestel; her husband: Earl Schwalbe; five brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law: Everett Schwalbe, Elroy Schwalbe, Senona (Lester) Evenson, Verona Schwalbe, Lila (Clarence) Hickman, Althea Gaestel, Lorraine Gaestel, Karen Gaestel and Allen Eberhardt.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2012 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 11306 Wehausen Road, town of Liberty. The Rev. Gregory Pope will officiate with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions would be appreciated for the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
