Joseph Jagodinsky, age 80, of 2000 Johnston Drive, Manitowoc, died Sunday, December 5, 2010, at North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center.
Joe was born on March 19, 1930, in Manitowoc, son of the late Albert and Helen (Osieczanek) Jagodinsky. He attended schools in Manitowoc and graduated with class of 1948 from Lincoln High School. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Joe married the former Gertie Kreiman on December 31, 1970, in Manitowoc. He was employed by the City of Manitowoc Fire Department as an EMT for 28 years until his retirement in 1985. For the next seven years, Joe was the chief deputy coroner for Manitowoc County. He was a 40 year member of the Eagles Aerie #706 and a member and past commodore of the Manitowoc Yacht Club. Joe was an avid bowler and loved his entire family.
Survivors include his wife: Gertie Jagodinsky, Manitowoc; four children: Bonnie Price, Manitowoc; Judy Schultz and special friend Michael Beninghaus, Manitowoc; James Jagodinsky, Las Vegas; Joy Van Ess and special friend Michael Fleury; Bessmer, MI; eleven grandchildren: Kevin Price, St. Nazianz; Keith (Kim) Price, New Holstein; Scott (Dawn) Price, New Holstein; Cheryl (Peter) Vogel, Kiel; Christopher (Susan) Schultz, Manitowoc; Aaron (Kristin) Schultz, Two Rivers; Jackie Jagodinsky, Florida; Michelle Fuller, Oshkosh; Brandi, Brady, and Blake Fleury, Bessmer, MI; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; foster son: Jim Gigure, Manitowoc; one brother and sister-in-law: Edward (Darlene) Jagodinsky, Green Bay; one sister: Lorraine Albrecht, Manitowoc; one brother-in-law and six sisters-in-law: Alvin (Joyce) Kreiman, Oklahoma; Helene Gander, Dane, WI; Verna Stedl, Greenleaf; Margaret Kroening, Brillion; Clara Breisch, Carmel, IN: Gladys Mazanec, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends: William Nowell and Mike Thompson, Manitowoc, also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; two children: Michael Jagodinsky and Gail Jagodinsky; one son-in-law: Arthur Schultz; one brother; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 12, at the Jens Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 1122 South 8th Street, Manitowoc. Rev. James Gorzelitz will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 5:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
